Brierley’s Liverpool
by David Brazendale
£11.99
Brierley’s Liverpool: a local artist captures the changing town, 1829–30
Published in association with The Athenaeum, Liverpool
This is a collection of little-known drawings of Liverpool, specially drawn to record the streets and buildings of the vanishing old town.
James Brierley was a self-taught artist in Liverpool in the 1820s, a time of enormous growth, change and rebuilding in what was an incredibly busy port city. Brierley was commissioned to draw buildings and street scenes before they were lost for ever. His pen-and-ink drawings are a unique and little known record of old Liverpool.
Here Liverpool historian David Brazendale presents the collection along with detailed background information.
Beautifully presented in limited edition hardback or softback. Around 224 pages, well illustrated.
