Description
This is one dandy little book! In its 130 pages are photos and maps and fascinating historical tidbits all centered around one of the most intriguing and glamorous places in the known world. What little boy hasn’t dreamed of being Robin Hood or Little John – or little girl wanted to be Maid Marian? To be sure, no one knows absolutely that there ever really was a Robin Hood, but considering the numbers of books, movies and television series devoted to the 13th century legend, who really cares if he was real or not? It’s such fun to read and/or watch the fruit of imagination. Why not lend your own to those others?
There are 20 ‘gentle’ walks described in great detail here, including useful information such as: Length of the walk, estimated time, terrain, start/parking, public transportation, refreshments, and which of the wonderful British Ordnance Survey Maps will provide the best background information for the area. It’s a terrific book to just read from front to back, or pick up on occasion. I imagine it would be truly useful for a visitor to the area.
